Outdoor Policy
We recognize the importance of daily outdoor play for children to enhance large motor development, balance, and agility as well as improve emerging social skills. Outdoor play will be available to the children every day, with the exception of the following weather conditions:
- Any temperature below 32 degrees Fahrenheit
- Any temperature above 95 degrees Fahrenheit
- Precipitation
- Excessive wind chill
- Excessive humidity
- Rain Storms/Thunder and Lightning
- Snow Storms/Restricted visibility
- High winds
On days when the children are unable to go outdoors, they will be provided with alternate large muscle play indoors. This will take place in the main play area at the infant site and in the classrooms at the toddler and preschool/pre-k sites.
We strongly recommend providing seasonally appropriate outdoor clothing such as hats, gloves, boots, etc., so that your child may be comfortable.
Please dress your child in play clothes and comfortable shoes as your child may become wet or dirty while enjoying our outdoor activities. Open-toed sandals/shoes are not permitted at the center. For your child's safety and enjoyment of the outdoors, we recommend socks and sneakers each day.
