Meals/Menu Policy
Children 12 months of age and over will be served 2 snacks and a lunch meal prepared by the licensed dietician of Breckenridge Village dining services, at no additional cost to you. There is a menu posted at each site on the parent bulletin board. The children will be offered food and beverage at the following times:
- 6 a.m.-8:30 a.m. (Infant/Toddler and Preschool/Pre-K)
- 11:30 a.m. (Infant/Toddler and Preschool/Pre-K)
- 3:30-4:30 p.m. (Infant/Toddler and Preschool/Pre-K)
*Any allergies or special dietary needs must be indicated on the registration paperwork and discussed with the director prior to admission.
*If your child has a food allergy that requires the substitution of a food group, it is your responsibility to provide the substituted item (example: soy milk substituted for dairy milk due to dairy allergy). A menu will be sent home weekly with you so you may indicate which foods your child may or may not have. These menus must be returned with a signature and adequate substitutes as needed. The menu will be posted in the kitchen area for all staff members to refer to.
*Children with food allergies are served with special color plates and cups to ensure safety.
*Staff eats with the children, modeling a family style mealtime. Children are encouraged to try and taste, but the choice to be finished is ultimately the child's.
*Children 12 months and under will be served formula or breast milk only. Children 12-24 months will be served whole milk only. Children 24 months and above will be served milk which is vitamin A & D fortified.
*Parents are responsible for preparing and filling infant bottles each day. NO GLASS BOTTLES, PLEASE! Staff is not permitted to put fluid into a bottle.
*Parents/guardians must provide all formula and food for infants. All bottles and food must be labeled with the child's full name, time and date of preparation.
*Infant food/formula will be stored in the center refrigerator for up to 24 hours, and then will be discarded or sent home upon dismissal.
*Breast milk and formula will be heated once, and then discarded. Parents are always welcome in our center to breastfeed. In our infant cubby room is a door labeled "Mother's Lounge" which is available for your breastfeeding needs. Supplies are in this room, storage space is available, and any item needed can be requested by contacting the director.
*All other food and beverage will be served once to the children, and then discarded. NO food/drink is ever saved and re-served,
*We serve 100% juice on special occasions only. Skim milk fortified with Vitamins A and D and Whole Milk will be served for all meals and daily snacks.
*Water is available upon request throughout each day for all children. The preschool/pre-k site has a child accessible water fountain the children may utilize daily as desired during indoor play. When preschoolers and pre-k children are outdoors, there will be water which is visible and accessible at all times. For toddlers, there will be water visibly available indoors and outdoors at all times. Infant parents provide all nutrition needs for their child when in our center and we will serve the infants water as requested.
